  Jumping Amsterdam   Weerwoord Amsterdam
This is an exciting show jumping event that attracts riders and visitors from around the world.  You can catch this event at the end of January at the Amsterdam RAI Arena.    
This literature festival takes place every January at the Theater Bellevue.  Even though the majority of the literature festival schedule is in Dutch there are some events in English.

   Chinese New Year  
If you are interested in taking a step into the Chinese culture, you can join in New Year celebrations in the Chinatown and Nieuwmarkt area with street parties and shows.          
             
   March
   HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show   Remembrance Day
In the first week of March, you can check out new things in the international boat show arena. This important exhibition in the field of boats and water sports features more than 500 boasts and over 350 exhibitors.    
Various events take place on this National Holiday on 4th March. At 8pm you can see the Queen placing a wreath by the monument in Dam Square.  
             
   April
   Queen's Day  
You can join in the celebrations for this event that actually take place day and night at the end of April all over the country and especially in Amsterdam. This is like a huge street party with large street markets and people clothed in orange.          
             
   May
  National Windmill Day  
This is a great occasion to view and visit windmills in Amsterdam as there are often special activities and working windmills are in action.  Most of the windmills may be visited for free.          
             
   June
   The Holland Festival  
This is a festival of the performing arts and cultural events that was first introduced in 1947 and now takes place every year.  This is a must for visitors in June and you can enjoy a selection of music, theatre and dance.

   Julidans  
This is an exciting festival for international contemporary dance that takes place at different locations in Amsterdam.          
             
   August
  Amsterdam Gay Pride   Grachtenfestival
This is one of the largest gay parades in the world and involves colorful street parties and a famous parade along the canal.    
You can enjoy this canal festival that delights people with classical music along the canals edge.  Also featured as a part of this festival is the Kindergrachten festival, that presents attractive musical delights for youngsters.

This is an important venue for the electronic media industry.  Here, visitors may get a glance of new innovations and products in the electronic world.

  Amsterdam Marathon  
Beginning at the Olympic stadium and running through the city of Amsterdam, the marathon route runs alongside many famous Amsterdam attractions.  Registration for the marathon may be made online.

  Cannabis Cup  
This concerns various concerts and events related to cannabis that has been held in Amsterdam for over 20 years and takes place in Thanksgiving week at the Power Zone.

  New Year's Eve
